My 1996 XJS - 6 cyl convertible has a tach that cuts out intermittently. The speedometer, odometer and trip meter work fine so I'm thinking the sensor module is ok ( I understand the tach, speedo and odometer are linked to the same sending unit / module ) and it's simply a dirty or loose connection behind the dash (yes I am an optimist).
Once I drop the lower panel under the dash on the drivers side, does anyone know if Ill be able to actually reach the wiring to check / clean the contact points or should I attack it from another direction? Or maybe someone else has encountered this?
