Default 407bhp XJS - The Gentleman Thug

Guys,

I thought you might like to see the photos of my Jag project that is almost finished. This has been 18 months in the making and a lot of head scratching. However, we now have a weaponized XJS convertible in 'Gentlemans attire'. The engine is a 5.7 litre LS2 (thank you USA!!). It is very, very, very fast. This links to a six speed gear box with TWR steering and braking system all round. We reckon it is between 300-400kg lighter.

We have had to put wider tires on the back and remapping the computer system nearly broke us all.

The colour is Aston Martin Midnight blue. And yes, i do come from the more money than brains club, but hey, it looks cool right?

Wow, looks like that was done with some serious attention to detail! Great looking car! Can you share some of the details with us?

- RWHP or crank
- dimensions & manufacturer of the wheels
- whose 6 speed transmission
- are you gonna go for the overkill and supercharge it
- how does the stereo sound with that sub in the trunk
- is your friend in the purple hat single

Also, the contrasting stitching on your seats looks boss. Welcome to the Forum!!!

Wink

its 407 at the flywheel, the six speed is also from GM (we bought a 2007 Holden SSV8 that had been rear ended).

The sub is powered by a separate amplifier, there are two in the boot one for the main speakers and one for the sub.

Purple hat is the wife.

So what's the story on the wheels (dimensions & manufacturer)? Looking forward to hearing some 'kill' stories. A true sleeper you've got there, unless the exhaust note gives it away.... what did you do in that department?

Also, did you use a John's Cars, Suncoast, or other kit - or is this a full custom?

The seats came out really well too! Where did you get that done?

Thanks for the great feedback.

The wheels are from the USA also, they are TSW Valencia

TSW Valencia - 161

I bought the swap kit from Jaguar specialities, Andrew was hugely helpful there.

All work was done in ChristChurch New Zealand, about 8 different businesses contributed. the interior was a real dillemma, but the inspiration came from a finely tailored pin stripe suit, hence the stitching. The steering wheel is from Mota-Lita.

Default Nice car!

I like the modification with the holders in place of the ash trays. Are they cat drinking bowls?

My car is completely original so I am a bit reluctant to change anything about it. Despite this, there is no storage for hot drinks or mobile phones etc so it would be a very usefull adjustment.

What a fantastic job. Verry Cool!!

I must belong to the same club ( more money than brains ) a i am embarking in the same journey with a XJS-C except I am keeping the V12 and am going to see how much power i can get out of it.

I would like to know if the door treads are standard and if not where did you get them?

The door treads were machines. Apparently with new computer engraving its relatively straightforward.

The cup holders are from a yachting shop and are for boats. I thought they had a nice clean look.

Yes, Super custom job, and the exhaust system is Da Bomb! -What is the deal on the louver slots in the hood (Bonnet) -again, very classy touch. -I wish they were stock to help disperse the heat buildup in the engine compartment.

Default louvres

they were machined in Christchurch from a fabricator who deals with E-type bonnets.

Nice eh?

i would like to find a set of headers that hug my L67 as close as those headers do.

btw, the LS1 is a 5.7 and the LS2 is a 6.0

So, they punched the louvers in the factory hood itself instead of cutting out and welding in the louver plates like the link i provided?

Yes, very nice indeed.

Default Ls2?

Doh!!!

You're right on the LS2, the reason i get confused is that we had to replace the computer throttle body with a manual one, it was simply too hard to map it - it is therefore 6ltr.

The custom headers were part of the same job that we did to put the hugh lift cam in there. It was a bit pricey, but don't they look sweet.

i have a Buick Grand national 85, with a GM LS2 6.0L drive by wire , 4L80E auto.
and it too, is a bad *** car, especially with reflashed ECU.

great street driver, LS series engines are absolutly the best bang for the money,

reading it is the most engine swapped engine in the world, going into all types of vehicles!

gotta love GM!!!!!!!
