Default 86 XJS V12 Power Window Failure

Got a bit of a dellima on my hands. Windows worked fine when I parked the car outside to let it air out and now they wont go up and I'm not sure where to start looking. I've seen a thermal breaker in several wiring diagrams but cannot find it on the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at the switches. They tend to gum up. The switches pull apart very easly and clean the contacts. This fixed the problems I had.

Agreed on the switches....common problem. A bit odd both failing at once, though.

The thermal breaker is probably on the RH component panel, below/behind the glove box. About 1.25" square, had brown and brown/blue wires. The window relay nearby as I recall.....the brown/blue wires goes to it

Cheers

Do the relay mod - this fixes the widow switch issue for ever.

Just remember to swap the supply and ground wires on the switch as the windows have 12V on BOTH sides of the motor and switch one side to ground to move a window.

Let me know and I post a cct diagram if you are interested.

Agree with DD, if they all failed at once it's almost certainly not the switches...

Cheers,
