88 H&E disassembly
After a long cold winter here where nothing got done on the car we finally had a break and warmer weather arrived last week. Friday afternoon several friends came over for a Jaguar Disassembly Party. At this point the '88 H&E convertible is literally completely apart except for the the rear IRS and the convertible top. Doors, hood, trunk, fenders, bumpers, interior, engine, Delenair 3, front suspension, brake booster, gas tank with filler cap, etc....
If I still have it it is for sale. Cheap/Reasonable prices plus shipping.
Both the convertible and the IRS are proving more difficult to remove than originally anticipated.
Any insights for either one are greatly appreciated. You tube videos weren't especially helpful on the topics.
PS....The Delenaire 3 climate control unit was a real mother to get out. Maybe with practice it would be easier but it looks like a complete interior dash removal to replace.

In essence:
Disconnect driveshaft. Disconnect brake fluid line. Disconnect handbrake cable. Disconnect (or cut) exhaust pipes. Disconnect radius arms. Disconnect speedo sensor wiring (if yours has it). Unbolt the 4 Vee mounts. Support IRS with floor jack. Lower IRS to the floor.
Cheers

HI Doug,
Driveshaft is disconnected, exhaust pipes are cut, radius arms are ready to come off.
Not sure if SpeedO sensor is back there. I did get a transducer off the transmission side.
So if I understand this correctly the 4 big bolts on each side forming a 'V' are what is holding it in. Once those come off the whole thing drops down.
When we were examining it on Friday it looked like a lot more bolts had to come off.
I do have to unhook the brake lines and disconnect the handbrake cable. Thanks.

Be ready for some real grunting on the radius arms

Although personally I leave the vee mounts bolted to the car and remove the nuts that hold the IRS to the mounts

Update:
With a little help from my friend Al the IRS is now off the car. Radius arms needed a little persuasion to separate from the rubber bushings but nothing extreme.
Literally the only things left to take off the car is the convertible top, the rear 1/4 windows (spoken for), some bulky wiring harness and miscellaneous tubing to include brake lines.
I am not going to try to remove the lower gas tank.
IRS and front suspension will be going up for sale as a package deal shortly on e-bay if no takers here.
Lots of other parts, big and small. Will do a package deal if someone wants to come pick up.
And as a bonus we got my '87 started and running smooth. One major step closer to full rejuvenation and return to true Jag cruising.
