Also - get into your boot and really twist those rubber hoses from the surge tank to the bulk head. If they make noise or are brittle, or look suspicious, then please consider changing them out.

That is no leak - that is a flood. Just to reinforce what OB has said - I once purchased a Dodge Pheonix that had a fuel fire start at the petrol tank - They got the fire out at the front door hinge. (I purchased it for the block under the bonnet).

Please don't let this happen to yours

Cheers

Hello Steve,

Thanks for the guidance. I will definitely take cautious when replacing that rubber hose. Most likely, I will unplug the battery to be safe. Once I get under the car, I will try to replace as much of the hose as possible. If you could find that picture that would be great. I won't get to this project until Christmas. Again appreciate your help!

Just another photo - on this one you can see the steel line (and bulk head) that you can see in your video (Found this one as I scratched my head today trying to remember how my fibre optics thing went back in). Also explains the lack of good photo's of the rubber hose (really is not good access)

Cheers

It was originally yellow, this photo was taken in the 1st month (or so) when she got home. It was stripping her down to find the rust extent to see if she was repairable or not.

Hello Steve, I finally fixed the fuel leak (flood). As you described, the fuel line was connected to a plastic hose about 6 inches in length. I disconnected the fuel line and replaced the plastic hose with New EFI hose. It cost about $10 for the hose and clamp.

Thanks so much for the help.
Happy Holidays!!

Well done and sorted.

The mind boggles at some "fixes" we find in our cars.

$10 for hose, $10 for beer, cheap fix in any language.

I was wondering if you actually cleaned the fuel expansion tank? I have hard time starting my XJS. Could it be the fuel issue?
