Default '89 XJ-S thermostats and jiggle pins

I ordered new themostats from rockauto. They were Gates Supperstat PN 33189S. The description said "jiggle pins included where required." Well they came and they have no jiggle pins. The parts house told me they are not required on my car and will "work just fine."

I have read opinions on this forum that they ARE required. I have the option to return these...any advice. Is there a part number/manufacture that anyone recommends. I hate to order again thinking I am getting jiggle pins only to find out again that they are supposedly not required. Thank you.

Assuming you have a V12, you MUST have the jiggle pins, or at the very least a hole. Rockauto are wrong. Perhaps best to buy some from a dedicated Jaguar supplier?

Return 'em and get your money back. The jiggle pins are required for the 4.0 sixes as well. Thermostats with jiggle pins aren't the easiest to locate so I would also recommend you buy from a dedicated Jaguar parts supllier.

According to the Jag specialist I buy all my parts from you do not need the jiggle pins - it MUST have a 1/8 hole that is orientated at 12 o'clock. This allows any air trapped in the system to bleed.

Ordered this thermostat from Advance back in July. Had jiggle pins, right length, and works fine in my car.

Buy Beck/Arnley Thermostat, 192 Degrees Fahrenheit 143-0354 at Advance Auto Parts

Gaskets can also be ordered from Advance as well...

Cheers,

- Will

I agree: must have a hole. The pin isn't so important.

Also must be the correct legth with the correct bypass disc at the rear

Cheers
