Default 90 xjs will not start

Hi everybody, my 90 xjs v12 with marelli ignition started running rough, then quit completely 2 miles later. After towing home checked fuel pump, found it had power but would not run. Replaced pump, started right up,but passenger side bank sounded like it was not firing. Pulled coil wire to that bank at cap, good fire, no difference in running with it off. Installed new cap and rotor. Found that 3 screws holding distributor base plate to manifold had heads busted off and were inside cap. Rotor was bad and cap corroded. Car will not start at all now. It was suggested might have jumped time but cranks smoothly with no backfire or kickback.also there are two hoses going into back of distributor base plate, what are they? Is timing mark on crank pulley a fine line like a hacksaw cut? This seems to be a pretty common post but i am unable to tell from the ones i've read what if anything solved the problem. Any help appreciated, thanks

Default More info

Hi, here's an update. I have tried some of grant francis' (from beautiful adelaide) tricks: I have fire at plugs, but spark seems weak. Injectors clack with key on and snapping accelerator, loosening fuel line at regulator results in good squirt of fuel, there is about 4.5 volts at plug end for water temp sensor. (putting a jumper on this plug does not make it start) maybe ecu only recognizes narrow range of resistance? However, i can get no continuity or resistance reading across the sensor itself.
Also checked readings on both coil plugs. With ignition on each have 12+v at plain wire, nothing at opposite end. a plug has no reading on center pin, b plug has 4+v on center pin. Bad amplifier(s)?
Help, i've fallen and i can't get up!
