Ordered a new voltage reg for my '85 V12 with the Lucas alt. The none that arrived has 2 wires, yellow and black. I pulled my alt and took it apart and the reg that's in my alt is visually identical, but it has three wires, yellow, black and red. The "extra" red wire goes to the exciter terminal.

Did I get the wrong reg? Or with the new replacements do you just omit the red wire? Otherwise it is exactly identical.

Kinda screwed here because I pulled the Jag half in half out of the garage to work on it and now it's all taken apart and I need to get it back together ASAP so I can at least close my garage door tonight.
