92 XJS Convertible. Tecalemit TDA831 Control Sensor.
Hello.
I'm really making progress on my 92 XJS convertible. When I bought it, the dealer assured me that "everything works". Well, everything did work but not properly. I'm now well on the way to, as I put it, getting the previous owner out of the car. Apart from the A/C, everything now does work properly and I love the car. This will be done early next year so I get the benefit on those warm spring days and, also, if it stops working I will have through October to get it worked on under warranty.
While cleaning the engine, I came across the Tecalemit TDA831 Control Sensor which is loosely fitted into the left side (viewed from front) air cleaner. When I say loosely, I mean that the narrow end of the sensor is slid into a hole in the side of the air filter holder. There is no grommet or seal. Can anyone please tell me how the Tecalemit TDA831 Control Sensor should be correctly fitted?
It's very satisfying when one gets down to small items like this on a car.
Thanks in advance.
Stephen

with a grommet... I just went over to Lowe's and took it in and went through their bins until I found a proper fit...
It is good to have a seal on that otherwise unfiltered air will be introduced into the engine
