Hey all


I pick up my Celebration in a weeks time. 7 more sleepless nights. I looked over the car last week, with the key in the ignition but not turned on, I clicked the lights to on (I was in a darkish showroom) but was surprised not to the see the instrument cluster light up. I think a yellow bulb warning lamp came lit and I heard a buzzer sound. However, once the car is started, the instrument panel lights up with the headlight switch to 'on'. Should the instrument panel light up without the car started?


This will be my 4th XJS. I fell in love with them after driving to Spain in a Red '77 V12 (VRO 666S - where are you now!) with my Dad in 1981 aged 10

 

 

On mine the headlights and panel lights come on with the ignition switched on. Only the side lights are on when ign. switched off. Yellow light is the bulb out tester and the warning is the door is open with the lights switched on.
I would think that this is that when back in the day that we had to use park lights on the streets only the sidelights were on and not the whole car.
