Accelerator pedal
Does anybody know if the pre- facelift and post- facelift gas pedals are the same..or suffer from the same bending of the pedal arm? I read that the pedals on some cars, maybe the early cars, suffered form slight bending of the pedal arm such that the pedal would bottom out on the downshift button before the throttle reached full throttle. My 95 pedal seems pretty robust looking and not having actually seen one that was bent, it's hard to know if they had improved it on the facelift models.
With pedal to the floor, the throttle is not opened fully. I have made sure there is a very slight play, but fully home, the butterfly plate at idle. WOT is not wide open. Do I have a bent pedal? I don't see how any pedal could bend from just normal use, If it were bent. Something would have to stop it on the engine end pretty rigidly, for somebody to keep pushing the pedal until it bends. can't see that happening.
How were the early ones bending? I saw somebody welded a gusset to one pedal repair. Again, the new ones may have already been improved.

Not sure about bent pedals
On my XJS (pre-facelift) the bushing was missing, thus resulting in 'lost motion' and inability to reach WOT

The pedals most likely are different, the pre-facelift has an arm that the cruise control attaches to, the facelift CC has a different throttle capstan that the CC connects to.
You can check for bent pedal easily, have a friend push the throttle to the floor and then in the engine bay see if the TB's are WOT.
