when I change to r134a, from whatever was in there, will I have to change the size of the ports, as the retrofit low side port is far to close, when fitted, to the hood,
OK, from downunder, and we are different for sure.
I am NOT an a/c guru, I push a button and it works, or not, BUT, I have had all mine converted over the many years.
When i have had the retro done on my "Series" Jags and the XJ-S's, I changed the TX valve, nice job, NO, to a 134a valve. This is NOT mandatory, but suggested highly due to pressure variations in the different gases.
I had the systems "rehosed", as is LAW here. This enabled the guy to put the 2 valve ports in the hoses using a "T" adaptor, suitable for access at any time in the future.
I do know what you are referring to with that top connector, with 134a adaptor attached, the bonnet will not close, no matter how hard you jump on it.
Leaving the R12 ports as they are, and "T" adapting the 134a ports into the hoses would be the only solution that I see.
The snap shows the RED one, and the other is down just aft of the header tank, but I have no snap of it, sorry.
Please ignore the red circle, that was for someone else looking for the gauge temp sensor, and I dont know how to remove it, duh.
