Alarm engaged with recharged battery
I have a '96 XJS which turned out to have a drained battery. The keyfob didn't open the door so I opened the car using the key to try to start it. Of course it woudn't turn over. I then put the battery charger on. Once the car got sufficient charge, the alarm started. I then put the key in the ignition and it seemed to stop the alarm, but I didn't try to start the car yet, intending to give it a more substantial charge before starting the car. I then exited the car and used the key to manually lock it rather than using the keyfob. That is where things got heywire. The alarm started sounding off within about 1 - 2 minutes and the car door lock will not reopen using the key. I also tried the passenger side and it seems the doorlocks have both been put in lock-down. So now, I cannot open the car and the keyfob doesn't work to unlock the car or disable the alarm either. So now I have unplugged the battery charger until I can unlock my car and disengage the alarm. Can anyone help me out?

I'm not sure that putting the key in the igniton disarms the alarm or just the siren. if a door or boot or bonnet was open then the alarm may go off. The battery charger will produce a higher voltage which may upset the alarm.
Other than that it may be worthwhile disconnecting the battery so hte alarm resets itself.
