Yes, connectors do accidentally get disconnected while diving into to the Vee.
Anyone any ideas where this one belongs? It dissappears through a hole in the firewall (yellow tape marker)

Are you sure that's not a throttle cable?

What other things use a Bowden cable to the engine on these cars? Certainly not a mechanical operated choke. LOL Something connected to the shift linkage?

I thought it looked like a throttle cable. I had the tower thing out while cleaning the Vee, but reconnected the throttle cable today:




The end is threaded but for the life of me I don't recall undoing it?? 5spd conversion so nothing to do with the auto gearbox, unless it's a remnant left behind after the conversion was done? Might be........

 

Cruise control cable.

Goes from the throttle pedal to the cruise control bellows
