Default AUX Cool Down Fan Not Working 1990 XJS V12

Hi Guys

My Auxiliary Cool Down Fan in the Shroud isn't working.

The is the Original OEM Electric Fan, that comes on when the Thermostat Cuts in, at least it is supposed to but its doesn't.

I should have checked this Fan was working before I put the Shroud in but I didn't

I also tried Bridging the Thermostat wires but that didn't do any good.

In fact I can't find any live power going to any of the Fan Wires.

Any ideas?

Maybe a Fuse has Blown?

Where do I find this Fuse?

I'm not much good at following Circuit diagrams, so if you could describe its location or a photo of where to find it, that would be great.

OB
On my 1985 there is an inline fuse on the LHS of the radtop panel. Also the frontmost fuse of the LHS inner wing fusebox does the fan as well as the horns.

Hi Greg

Cheers!

I will check those out but wondering if a relay may also be involved?

it could well be the relay, the manual tells how to test fir it. I have the same problem only I know mine was working before I re installed it after all my work.

Hi Daverb

'Greg' nailed it!

The Fuse had blown but it was a 10 amp Blade Fuse on mine, not an in-line one.

On my Car under the Bonnet/Hood are two fuse boxes on the Passenger Side (UK) Car.

One has a Black Cover and the Other One is a sort of Clear Polythene and it was the Fuse no 5. which is nearest to the Windscreen that had blown.

After replacing that, I was able to test it by bridging the wires that go to the Thermostat.

'Mind your fingers' the Circuit is live even when the Ignition is Switched off.
