Default B-post finisher removal on facelift

Hi all,

I have some rust spots appearing on my b-pillar finisher on a 1991/2 facelift, and replacements are no longer available (ordered from SNG since it was <£20 but came back as NLA), so I'm going to have to do what I can with a rattlecan of satin black.

Question is, what's the best way to remove the finisher? Looking at the image on SNGs, it seems to hook along 3 locations on the front edge, and then also top and bottom.

Does anyone have any photos or any watch-outs on removal? I'm a little wary of damaging door seals, bending the part etc. since I'm unlikely to get a replacement.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt; they are often available in near new shape at wrecking yards. My local probably has 60 or so.

Matt,

I guess it's the drivers (RH) side that you need? The LH side should be available from Jaguar but RH is NLA.

Perhaps give Chris at KWE a ring and ask them for any advice on removal?

Good luck

Paul

I would wrap it instead, did it on my other XJS and it came out looking better than paint.

So, wrapping, can you do that on boats?
Just put an offer in on an oldish boat that someone has painted a delightful shade of shed green.
Just looking at options.

Thanks all, I'll keep an eye out for parts. I'm seeing from Jag that the LH part is NLA, so I'll take a look at salvaging my current one while I watch out for a good replacement.

Cheers
Matt
