Bad leak in passenger side valve cover gasket
I have the manual, but I was wondering if anyone has any other helpful or photo-based instructions on this project? I did not see much on this topic when searching the site.
I have a very bad oil leak that looks like its coming from the valve cover gasket on the passenger side near the cam sprocket. It is leaking enough that oil is pooling on the head bolts, running down the "valley" and then dropping on the exhaust. It appears to be about 1/4 quart after a 20 mile run.
I've replaced valve cover gaskets before, but the manual refers to removing various AC parts, depressurizing the fuel system in order to remove the induction system. I was hoping to get some pointers before I tackle this monster.
Also, would you go with JAG OEM or is there a better aftermarket gastket? What else would you do with this job?
Thanks!

Time consuming, lots of "stuff" to remove, but not technically difficult. No need to open up the a/c system. Excellent opportunity to replace fuel hoses, replace vacuum lines, repair/replace fuel injection harness, un-seize the distributor advance mechanism, repplace spark plugs, replace throttle bushings, etc.
Basically its just a matter of removing the intake manifolds to gain access to the cam covers.
Do both sides at once and be done with it. Use Gortex gaskets. Take lots of notes and pics of where everything goes. Good info in Kirby's book.
Cheers
