My car has had Superpro rack bushes in for 7 years and they are still good. I went with Superpro because they were recommended by the XJS racing community in the UK.

No can't remember cost as I bought front wishbone and subframe bushes, and it was 9 years ago not 7 when I thought about it.

cool that's a decent price. Need to do that in spring. Cars going in storage soon and doubt I can work on it while there.

There is a special tool to remove the old mounts, the job is much easier with it.

I got it from a place in England that is no longer in business (owner retired). However a quick google turns up these:
Jaguar Rack Bush Tool, XJ-6, XJ-12 & XJ-S Removal Tool - 2502
JAG003 STEERING RACK MOUNT BUSHING DRIVER [JAG003] : Baum Tools Specialty Auto Tools, Specialty European Auto Tools

Mine is more like the tool from XK's.

excellent thanks... got it all bookmarked for when I'm ready to do it. Can't wait to do it... feels like I'm steering a cruiser boat as it sits.

The tool is easily made with some 5/16 threaded rod, nuts, and washers. For one end you need a very large socket, big enough for the bushing to fit inside, as you press it out.

For the other end I used a bearing press adapter. This needs to be just under the OD of the bush. You can get sets of various sizes, handy to have around.
