Battery Advice Please--'89 V12 XJS
Hi all;
I got the 1989 XJS V12 Convertible--but now it seems as if the current battery is not correct for this car. Can anyone please tell me what specific battery that has the correct size/amperage for this model?
Thank you!
Gary

I was pleased with a Continental battery (Look up web site) I measured battery location in the trunk and bought a battery to fit. Took into consideration the cover and most important make sure it is a vented battery. The Continental site will give dimensions of their batteries.
Interesting, Interstate doesn't make a battery (or list one) anymore..
You can also try an Optima (they are sealed dry-cell so no venting required):

Just make sure the specs fit size wise. They do require a bit more babysitting in terms of maintaining a full charge, in terms of following their charging instructions if the car won't be daily driven.
The 34 /34R should fit IIRC, but double check.

Check the price on the Optima; which is a very good battery.
Venting is not a problem. Jaguar made provisions* for a plastic tube to exit the floor of the trunk. The battery has a fitting for the other end of the tube. Very easy.
I will get back to you on battery size.

Back to you: It's a Continental Platinum, L3/H6/49-CP, 36 month replacement, cost a little over $100. Ask for venting kit; which is a short piece of tubing!
My car is a 93 coupe 6 cyl. and this battery works fine for me. Since you have a 12 cyl you may need more cranking power that is why I recommended going to the Continental web site, there you will find all info you require.
