Hi gents.

seems like my alternator has really gone completely bad. After a long drive in 100 degree weather, the Volt meter was barely at 9 and the battery light was coming on. Fortunately for me I made it home, and immediately plugged my battery charger, but it shows the battery was at 11 v so the alternator stopped charging it at some point during my trip.

I have suspected a bad alternator for some time now but now it’s official.

can anyone recommend a good, long lasting alternator? The one I have is old but it has less than 20k miles on it. It was a brand new Bosch

any recommendations greatly appreciated

 

I have a GOOD local rebuilder a few miles away and she gets me going in a few days for a little over $100 on average.

I have had her redo a 1929 Rolls Royce generator and it worked perfectly.

Find a good local shop and stick with them, they are getting scarce.
