Sometimes there's a bit of comfort in knowing that things could always be worse.

Here's what lower rad hose replacement looks like on an XJR/6.

I thought you were originally referring to using the chisel as a means of bending or forming the hose along its length to prevent it chafing on the engine.
Not the hose or rad outlet, the metal that touches the hose and clamp, give a few pings to the metal just enough so it does not touch hose or clamp.
I will try to take a pic.

My tip to get the lower hose back onto the rad is to put a very small amount of rubber safe and water soluble sex lube onto the inside of the hose. Then it slips right onto the rad outlet pipe with a lot less effort. The coolant washes away the lube so the hose doesn't slip off, plus the hose clamp behind the ridge on the outlet ensures it stay on.

Thumbs up

Hi Greg
Did this idea get any traction if so is there a way to get it today. I am thinking of swapping out to SS flex pipe from Summit racing: you used copper/nickel never heard of that but Summit says SS helps dissipate some heat also, do you see that with C/N.
I would think SS would come in different diameters thinking about those heater hoses that look to be a bugger to change out. especially with my big Sasquatch hands.
I'm just getting used to how to find things in threads, nice to have a look at peoples solutions to things that I come with questions for, see you in a lot of them. Thanks for that.

Sadly only two people were interested. Stainless hose has a reputation for cracking, I would not use it. At the moment, the best option is the OEM one, sadly.

Thanks for saving me time and money on an experiment trying to improve reliability.
Happy motoring to you.
