Default brake bleeding sequence

I've received my rebuilt master cylinder and have bench bled it.

From various sources I see that some people think the sequence of bleeding the brakes is very important, while others don't.

I don't have a repair manual. So...is there a recommended sequence?

1987 XJ-S V12, with inboard rear brakes

Thanks!

John

Usually start with the furthest from the master cylinder on whatever end you start with. Doesn't matter front or rear since they are separate circuits from each other. Suck as much old fluid as you can out of the reservoir before adding fresh, and bleed long enough to get fresh, clean fluid at each caliper.

I can't remember if the 87 had ABS. If it doesn't, follow Jal's advice, if it has ABS, look up the procedure, it is not the usual one.

No ABS in 1987.

ABS was introduced mid-87 but John's car doesn't have it. The giveaway is that he's referred to buying a "Master Cylinder", hence pre-ABS.
