Default brake lights ánd blinkers

Hi guys,

I have a 1990 XJS-C V12 (no facelift)
So I have an interesting problem.
Both my brake lights and all blinkers lights don't work.
Hazard still works for all blinkers, but nothing when I use my indicator handle.
All this happened after washing the car.

Any thoughts?

All you can do is start checking things.

Hazards are on a different circuit.

It might be a water intrusion thing in the light fixtures themselves (maybe remove the lenses from the outside in the rear) or start checking for drips under and behind the dash. I'm not sure, but I the front and rear blinkers on either side are run by a LH and then a RH fuse - if you know what I mean?

When you press the brake do you get an orange warning light? When you engage the blinker stalk does it blink and tic but real FAST?

I guess that's where I might start checking. Fuses. Relay for blinkers is (on LH drive car) just under the steering wheel in the L hand-ish side under the kick panel... If it's like mine it's one of the lower and more accessible,,, longer in shape than the others.

Thanks Jay,

LH and RH fuse still work. now after in the light fixtures.
When I engage the blinker, nothing happens, not sound of anything blinking, and non of the blinkers do anything.
When I engage hazard, all blinkers work and the relai also starts tikking.
Do you happen to know if the relay for the hazard and for the blinkers are the same one?

I'm just pulling up to work and am going to have to look a little more closely. This is for a 1990. I'm not sure how much change one can expect... My email is jayharris85@gmail.com - if you send me an email I'll try and send ya a copy of these electrical diagrams. Lol, on these cars, you'll need it!

Same relay.

I suspect the turn signal circuit isn't getting 12 volt supply...which comes from the hazard light switch. The fix might be simple.

Sometimes the contacts inside the hazard switch become oxidized and won't carry current. Try exercising the hazard switch rather vigorously about 20 times. Sometimes this is enough to clean the contacts inside the switch.

Cheers
