brake shoes on 96 xjs
have being driving the car for a while over a year with the red brake malfuntion light on, have no idea how the hand brake works as for operation.
Anyway last week the wheel locked up for no reason, so i have taken off the rotor and shoes and cut off the old hand brake cable, next i have removed the backing plate and the cast iron brake cable holder the other side has a sheet metal backing plate which is rusty i might make a new one out of Stainless, i intend to mirrow satin polish the aluminium hub holder and replace the bearing inside, having trouble removing the shell bearing.
One of the big questions is should i remove the the drive shaft and assemble the hub on a bench as it will be difficult to put it back the other way. I have ordered shoes, pads, brake cable, abs censor, calipers, bearings, its getting complicated.
