Default Cabriolet roof material

I recently acquired an '88 XJ-SC (Cabriolet) and the roof components, the targa and rear top sections, are faded and worn and are in bad need of recovering.

Anyone else go through this? Any links to sources for that material?

Also, I've been considering stripping the material altogether and having the components painted with the rest of the vehicle. Has anyone else here tried that? Results?

I had to replace the outer fabric on my convertible not long after I bought it, when it peeled off while I was driving--both seams blew out. The work was done near Raleigh, NC.

Call a dealer [there are several in Atlanta] and see who they recommend. The upholstery shop I used does much repair work for the Raleigh dealer, and was a 2-hour drive. Columbus to Atlanta is a little closer. Unless you know a good automotive upholstery shop in town? Any shop with a quality reputation should be able to redo it for you.
