Question can it be true

I was just talking to a guy that had a '85: xjs v12, and he replaced the brain (ecu) with one from a corvette from the '80's.. he said it was a dual stage ecu that worked perfectly is that a truth. Has anyone heard of this or has done it? He stated it was just a matter of splicing the connectors together.

i picked up an upgrade 16cu for $100. if he did do that, he wouldve had to rewire the engine harness to fit. it wouldnt simply splice in, but i doubt it would even drive 12 injectors. ask him to show it to you. its in the trunk, and if it says lucas on it, then hes lying. i never understood why people lied about their XJS's. whats wrong with an XJS the way it is?!? he wouldnt be the first one. i met a guy that tried to tell me he had an 8 liter V12 and his XJS would do 210mph. LOL

yes. plug the air rail holes. you have to take the intakes off to do it. easy enough job though and it looks much cleaner.

Ummm.....sound far fetched to me. Ask him for details.

OK, <grin> I'll go along with that if we're talking about the last of the C3 Corvettes or the earliest C4 Corvettes.

Later C4s...maybe '86-up....will out-perform a typical 5.3 XJS in virtually, perhaps literally, every objective, measurable performance aspect.

Well, at least all the C4s I've driven....only a couple dozen or so :-)

Cheers
