Default Cancel the Restaurant! Not going out! 'Cherry Blossom' has another problem.

Hi Guy's

Having just got over the shock of a possible dropped valve (at least it sounded just like that to me)

'Cherry Blossom' has thrown up yet another problem!

This time its the Brakes, as the drivers side Caliper won't bleed Air or Fluid.

Everything in the Brakes department is New!

Calipers/Brake Pipes/Brake Flexy's/Brake Pads, The Works!

I even changed the Copper Brake Pipe for another New one, just in case it was that, although on close inspection the first one WAS seating properly.

I may have to rebuild the ABS Valve Block, which I know how to do, as I have done it before.

But there are a couple more tricks I can try first.

Its just a PIA job that I could do without, just when you think its safe to go back in the water!

You can follow my progress on this such as it may be, on my 'Cherry Blossom' restoration thread.

But we've hit a brick wall at the moment, as I've got lots of other jobs which are shouting even louder than the Car.

Have you tried blowing the line out with compressed air incase some foreign matter found its way in there........

I know what you mean about the jobs piling up. I now have to replace a fence to keep the sheep in, on top of painting the house and re-doing the rain harvesting pipes.

Oh well I'll just work on the XJS tomorrow.......................

Bugger , It happened to me also , thought it was ready to take for a spin and no brakes , Complete overhaul , but the one thing that was different from the many other bleeding jobs I have done was that it took along time to get fluid through the LH front calliper and with my wife pumping the pedal it eventually came good. have you tried the process with the engine running ? . I should mention my car is non -abs.

Hi John

I only wish that my Car was non ABS as that makes life a lot easier when it comes to fixing the Brakes.

I think I know what the problem is and the way to fix it but having just got over one potential disaster, I didn't want another one so soon.

Hi Warrjon

Lots of jobs to catch up with on the domestic front, so the problem with the Car seems to have cropped up at just the wrong time.

I am also glad that I have an earlier model as some things seem to be easier to work on which does not help you much OB and I understand your feelings lots of time and money put in and not getting the good feeling of achieving something but the fact you know what the problem is means you are 90% there and is only a question of time before you give all your " fans " some good news , I find some times it pays to leave a job that's giving you the S***s and going back to it refreshed.

Hi John

Fans!

Lets not go there, that was another problem I had to sort out!

First I fitted Electric Fans then took them out again because they made my XJS sound like a Sewing Machine.

I was lucky to pick up an almost New Mechanical Fan but then the Engine had problems (nothing to do with the Fan) and did Sound like a Sewing

Machine but a broken one this time!

I know what the Problem is with the Brakes, so I've got a couple more Tricks to try and if that doesn't work, it will be the ABS playing up.

Which will mean a rebuild, not that difficult really I've done it a few times now but the XJS is one of those Cars which you need a brace of.

So you've always got one to drive, while you're fixing the other one as you'll miss it that much!

The only thing that's holding me up is the Weather, no ideal for fixing the Car on a day like this.

That's what you get when you start cutting corners just like an XJS.
