Car Inspectors Report - Help Please!
Looking at purchasing a 1990 XJS Convertible with 66k on the clock.
The vehicle appears to be in overall good condition but the
inspector has pointed out a few items to me.
Any advise from you would be appreciated as to whether the pointers
bare any significant hint for serious future issues and costly
repairs - like how am I suppose to read the compression report...?!
Thank you in advance.
'THE ENGINE IDLES SMOOTH WITH GOOD ACCELERATION AND PERFORMANCE.
THE DIFFERENTIAL IS DAMP FROM A POSSIBLE PINION LEAK. THE RIGHT
FRONT WHEEL WELL IS OIL WET FROM OIL DRIP FROM AIR FILTER HOUSING
MOST LIKELY FROM THE PCV SYSTEM.'
'THE READINGS OF THE COMPRESSION TEST ARE AS FOLLOWS THE FIRST
NUMBER FOR EACH CYLINDER IS THE FIRST REVOLUTION FOLLOWED IN
SEQUENCE WITH THE SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH, AND FIFTH REVOLUTIONS: #1
CYLINDER LEFT BANK: 40 70 80 110 145 CYLINDER #2 LEFT BANK: 40 70

Thank you, again!

RE: Car Inspectors Report - Help Please!
Come on folks -
Who can tell me whether the results from the compression test are
bad news or not. Lowest reading is 145 for two adjacent cylinders.
Is this the first sign of head gasket failure or am I just being
paranoid? Should the value be way lower for that, for instance
~100??
Thank you.
