depends on the race. straight line automatic transmission dominates.
through the twisties its not as great, but really depends on the gearing and stall. my 3k stall 2.93 setup in my other car is great for twisty bits. just drop it in second gear and youre good to go

Just curious - did you ever hit up the group here for assistance troubleshooting your car before going this route?
My $500 xjs convertible doesnt run. I thought eliminating the fuel inj and replacing distributor (mine is shot) and installing carb might be the way to go befor trashing v12 and installing SBC engine? Im a ex muscle car guy and I like the idea of the simplicity of the SBC, having said that v12 is pretty cool if it can be simplified. I also dont want to spend $ on v12 just to toss it later.
