Default Clicking noise when depressing brake

I searched the forum, could not see anything on this topic. Recently I ordered a new key fob and had to program it. I wired a simple on/off switch where the valet connector and eventually got the car into program mode and programmed the remote. Maybe I jiggled something when I was messing with the wiring, but now there is a solenoid type of click just below the gear selector when the brake pedal is depressed and the gear shift in park. With the gearshift out of park and the break is depressed, there is no click. It did not seem this way before I programmed the remote. Also there is a buzzing noise behind the passenger knee bolster, and my heater fan does not activate all the time until I switch it to the defrost speed. Any ideas. Thanks much

Ed

There *is* a shift interlock solenoid in the console to prevent shifting out of "P" unless the brake pedal is depressed. Normal for it to make a clicking sound.

the arm that moves to allow the shift selector to move has a piece of rubber cushion on it to make it quiet, it gets brittle and falls off, most just add a pice of vacuum hose in its place and it will quiet down.

Thanks for the input, appreciate it. I may have knocked the rubber cushion in the process, what is the best way to access the shift selector to replace the cushion. Also any idea on the buzzing from the passenger side, I only noticed it after I messed in the area of the valet switch when programming the remote.

Default Figured it out

After some research I found that the aspirator fan was the cause of the buzzing. It was not too dusty, I vacuumed what dust there was, seemed to quiet it just a tad. Learning more everyday. Thanks for all the advice.

I had a weird thing with my aspirator fan a few years ago. It made a strange buzzing sound....but only when making right turns. Took me some time to figure out the source of the sound.

Anyhow.....

I took the fan out and put one tiny drop of oil on the motor shaft. Problem solved. I guess enough trickled into the innards to do some good

Cheers
