Clunking From Right Rear

Well I have a nasty clunk that happens when i go over a bump or accelerate quickly. It almost sounds like a loose shock or a tail pipe that bumps the body. I read somewhere that the trans mount may cause this type of sound? So i have purchased the rebuilt kit for that mount. Has any one had a similar experience and if so and it was the trans mount, how difficult was it to replace. I have a great detailed manual that says I have to be concerned because it has a spring or something you have to pay attention too upon removal. Your help is appreciated. Ill also come back and tell you of what it was and how I got it repaired. Thanks again!
The spring may become weak and allow the trans to bounce. Your rebuild kit should include a new spring. If not buy it separately. Also, check the carrier bearing on the driveshaft for play, u-joints in the driveshaft and the axle shafts going to each wheel, rear wheel bearings, and lastly the radius arm bushings.

Excellent reply Ken! Very good information. This weekend I am putting on the new 18" wheels and tires. So I will have it raised and do thorough Inspection. Hope to find the culprit easily.
Nothing more aggravating getting "ON IT" and hearing and feeling this clunk... I hate it...
