Convertible Top Help Needed - XJS 1996
So glad I'm a member . I've gotten help on just about every question I've had so far. One more. 1996 xjs convertible...getting it ready for a new paint refreshing. I'd like the autobody shop to get the new paint under the back of the convertible top instead of just masking it off ...so does he.
From what I've read there is a cable that goes all the way around the bottom of the top with threaded rod at each end that has 10 mm nuts. Seems like if they are loosened evenly then it could be lifted for paint. Do you agree? How do I access these nuts ? I've been looking for pictures or instructions but no luck.
Thanks again to all

From my own thread on repainting, EZRIDER said:
"the back of the top is held to the body by a wire cable with a threaded end with a nut on it to pull it tight and hold the back of the top to the car, if i remember right its kinda back in by the rear hinges, pop the latches on the top and partially open it a few inches to take the tension off the top and then loosen the nuts on the cable and then you can pull the back of the top out of its channel."
IIRC, it's easier to see the cable nuts once you partially open the top.
