Default cooling

I have a problem with the cooling fans, 2 electric both connected to the same jaguar circuit, they operate when aircon is on but not via the thermostatic
switch on the water pump, when I checked there is no power to the thermo switch the fuse #2 in the cab is ok, are there any line fuses on this circuit or should I just run in another ignition side live feed to it?

There's a diode pack (which looks like a relay) which directs voltage to the thermo switch. If you have a test light or meter you can check it.

Do you have the wiring diagrams?

hi Doug I only have the Haynes manual for series 3 and early xjs's, but it must be from the diode pack, its under that black plastic cover at the front

Click here for some decent diagrams

http://www.captainjaguarscathouse.co...ec%20Guide.pdf

The first section is for the Ser III sedans. Scroll down until you reach the "XJS thru 1987 MY" section and then go to page 18.1

The diode pack in on the left side inner fenderwell. Not sure if it'll be under a black cover. It wasn't on my 1988 MY XJS, as I recall.

Cheers

If it helps, its blue and just past the washer tank on mine (85 HE). I rewired it to over-run after shutdown to combat the heat sink issue.

I removed the red relay under the plastic cover by the rad and I have a new aftermarket relay with the same # on it suitable for 2 fans to try tomorrow.
when I looked at the pektron diode pack (dac1996) it came out of its blue box so maybe its time for a change there, but its going to be 2nd hand. I purchased some wheel locks from Grublogger via eBay so when I go to pick them up tomorrow I will see what he has.
