My car is very loud when running. Not noticeable in traffic but when I turn it on to warm up in the morning I can hear it from inside. Obviously at first its idling higher but even so it is quite loud. It sounds like its mostly air.

 

You're probably just hearing the cooling fan.

Just on GPs you might wanna check to make sure the fan clutch hasn't seized...which would make the fan louder still and possibly result in the plastic fan coming apart. That would really ruin your day.

Is it really that loud as standard though? Its not exactly elegant.

My clutch is new

 

Intake roar on the V12s are loud when started cold (in cold weather). Always settles down to silence once they warm up.

 

How loud is "...that loud..." ?

My gut feeling is that you're hearing normal fan noise but it hard to say without hearing it.

i changed to electric fans, they dont make any noise till engine warms up to 175*, and when cold my engine takes awhile. so i'm usually on the road and fans dont bother anyone.

This is a video I made with my cell phone so the quality isn't the best. I had just removed the cats and secondary mufflers but kept the original factory primary mufflers. RPM's up to 3500-4000. It sounds louder on video than it does in real life.

AWSOME sound! I love it! Mines down now, so I miss the roar!

 

Mine "loud" is turned up to 11 most of the time. I love it But seriously loud on start, calms down a great deal as it warms - compressor clicking in and out audible but other than that pretty silky.

 

must admit mine was very load today when they put pink Floyd track "Comfortably Numb" on the radio.
