Default Courtesy light

When I open the drivers door the drivers dash light doesn't come on, only the passenger dash light, the rear courtesy lights and puddle lights come on, when I open the passenger door all the dash including the drivers side work. Any reason?

As I recall the driver's side light is isolated so that it won't blind the driver if the dashboard "interior light" switch is used while driving

Yes, there is a diode shown in the circuit diagram that would cause this.

Rex
This should happen only when the ignition is on, as a protection against the driver being dazzled (as if!). Ignition off, both should come on.
