Default Craigslist Hess & Eisenhardt XJS project???

Just passing this along for whatever it's worth:

Hope I'm not breaking too many rules by posting this here. It's just a craigslist ad I saw today, has nothing to do with me personally.
Figured I'd give you XJS folks a heads up!

An '87 XJS convertible conversion with some front end damage. Located near Birmingham, Alabama. Asking 1K, sounds willing to negotiate or swap. The conversion mfg isn't mentioned, but I assume it's an H&E.

I thought about it myself for roughly a nanosecond ... too many cylinders for me!

BTW ~ the ad is a week old, may or may not be still up for grabs.

Here's the link:

Mods .... if I have sinned, excommunicate me!

Hmm, infractions let's see.

1, If you owned it, then it should be posted in the Private For Sale section, which as you don't, then that won't apply.

2, Should it really be in the Off Topic section, under one of the 'iffy car ads' threads? Nah because it looks pretty genuine.

3, It would make a good parts car or project for someone, so that looks to be OK.

4, At that price - negotiation, you would at least have a car that runs, to be getting along with, could be an infraction here.

5, It is an XJS, and you posted in the XJS section, so we are OK here.

6, GOT IT! YOU DON'T HAVE THE SELLERS PERMISSION TO RE ADVERTISE HIS CAR?

This could probably be considered as some sort of scam, and you should really receive a Life Time Ban from this forum, together with your IP Address being reported to at least 5 of the Major Anti-Spam data bases, resulting in you or your Grandchildren never being able to logon the Internet and you personally being black listed in the No Fly anti-terrorist lists, together with all your bank accounts being seized by the IRS until a full audit of your gambling addiction has been accomplished.

Apart from all that.... Nice find...LOL

Does the trailer come with it?

Translator,
All you said is undeniably true, but I think I got ya on a couple technicalities:

#1) To have grandchildren, I'm reasonably sure you first have to have children.
I managed to avoid that by figuring out at an early age what was causing it ... it's that sex thang!
I've pretty much managed to stay away from that.
(Lest you think that is cause for congratulation, let me be quick to point out that I've had an immense amount of support with that decision from just about every woman I've ever met .... thank you, ladies of America!)

#2) Seize my bank account .....?????
Good luck with that ....!!!!
Boy, would you be in for a disappointment!

Ah man .... I'm gonna regret this, but I just gotta say it.
You folks on this forum are a hoot!

If I read correctly, there were less than 2,000 of these automobiles produced.
I figured rarity alone would maybe pique someone's interest ... if not as a potential buyer, at least to merit some sort of response.

Lets see, we currently have 60 page views. Total responses at this point zero! (That's from forum members other than myself and the mods, who for some incomprehensible reason kinda like me ... and who also want to generate some forum activity.)

However ....

A thread on tire/tyre valve caps currently shows almost 1900 page views and 31 responses.

A thread whining about pretentious Chrysler 300 owners is showing over 4400 page views with 63 responses. (Obviously someone cares?)

Threads concerning trunk space re: golf club capacities, pluses and minuses of cup holder locations, bluetooth and dingleberry hookups, automatic laser butt flossers and ghetto wheels/rubber band tires are obviously hot button topics here.

I guess this is just a reaction from an admittedly older, "down home" kinda guy adrift at sea in a "high end" atmosphere, but I think some of you folks need a reality check!

Nonetheless, unless this missive gets me banished for life, I'll continue to plug away, possibly even post something of interest to someone.
Whatever it is, I'll try to make it real! (Or at least humorous ...!!!)

Thanks to all of you who support this forum by actually participating to some extent.
Massive thanks to the mods for performing a demanding and thankless job!

Now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Peace,
Retro

Hmmm....maybe it was the wording retro?
maybe try "GIRLS on Hess & Eisenhardt XJS project" or similar, but, if I were you??
I'd try either....."Chrysler 300 v Hess & Eisenhardt XJS" OR "Tyre valve caps on Hess & Eisenhardt XJS" but maybe thats just my logic

Just keep bumping this baby and we'll get it to the top of the charts

I had cheese (Lancashire, if you were wondering) and home made pickle sandwiches for supper last night, went to sleep thinking about how you could combine your restoration projects with a Hess and Eisenhardt XJS and a Girl with Valve Caps, then awoke to questions of sanity and reeking Lums.

I think that I'd better lay off the late night pickle.

Pity that there are not more photo's showing the suspension damage, at that price I would have thought there would be parts interest at least.

Well, it's getting there. (if you want me to edit the title just shout).

You must be doing something right.

This is what GOOGLE gave up with a search 5 mins ago.

Now, the question is, do they know something, unique, about this project XJS? (and No I have not had any Pickle of any description YERT)

Well, if you know where I was in '73 ... that would make a total of one of us that knows.

Probably working in one of the motorcycle shops on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and making frequent runs to The Warehouse in New Orleans to see the likes of ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers, etc. etc.

Had to wait 'til the early '90s to catch Pink Floyd at the Superdome in NOLA, the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. Awesome ....!!!

Yep ....
I figger if we keep it up long enough, we might actually drag a bonafide XJS owner into the mix.
(Don't know exactly what the hell we're gonna do with them, but they'll be trapped!)
