Default Dashboard wood

Does anyone know how (by what means) the fillets of wood veneer are attached to the dash panel? Simply glued, or are they screwed from behind, snapped in with clips...?

We now have 3 xjs's. My son (14) bought a 1982 black one that looks just about exactly like Blackjack. Named it Jackson.

"Dashboard wood"?... is that anything like Morning wood?

I'm pretty sure on my '90, the wood is held on with clips (pop off, snap in)
