Default Distributor wiring repair

1988 V12 engine Lucas ignition

Other than the soft insulation is there anything special about the wiring to the pick-up inside the distributor?

On mine one of the wires is broken. I was ready to simply repair it as I would any other broken wire.....solder and shrink tubing....but thought I'd ask first.

Cheers and thanks

To my knowledge if its not a shielded wire just solder it up, a bit of heat-shrink and your good to, even if it is shielded, you can solder it and you can use heat shrink then a couple of turns of aluminium tape and then heat shrink over it and its just as good as new. If that makes sense?
Just remember to put your heat shrink tube in first before you solder it together.

Stainless wire from memory, mongrel to solder, but doable.

Done a few over the years.

I by-pass that rubber block, and when done fill the hole with RTV.
