Red face Doesn't Anything just stay working on these cars?

2 O rings on the compressor and the air conditioning works, all last summer. vents were changing properly, feet face, defrost. This summer air is cold BUT, only the left face vent is blowing, not the right or center and the rest is blowing out of the defrost vents(not on defrost selection). Anyone have this happen or know where to look first to fix it? At least it's blowing cold out of somewhere! Bud

Is this on an XJS?

Or a '69 E type?

Cheers

Red face sorry Doug!

It's my xjs. I'm a mechanic, but without anything to go on I'm reluctant to start (tearing things apart), so any help of course, would be appreciated. Bud

I would start with the vacuum bellows and the vacuum lines.

I have a vacuum leak that when I accelerate my AC changes from the facelevel outlets to the windshield defrost outlets. Take my foot out of it and it settlesback to normal. I know mine is vacuum related.

I agree that checking for vacuum problems is a good place to start. The center vent and the defrost flaps are vacuum operated. Sounds like the former is closed and the latter is open.

Unfortunately you have LOTS of vacuum hoses, switches, and actuators to look at. I'd begin with the easy stuff: the vacuum supply *to* the climate control system. This means checking the vacuum reservoir, hoses, and check valve in the engine bay. If those are OK then you'll have to start rooting around in the dashboard.

Aside: if diagnosis starts getting in depth we'll need to know if you have a Delanair Mark II system or Delanair Mark III system. The Mark III was introduced approx. 1987 and is easily identifiable by the "pull-for-manual-control" feature of the temp selector knob.

Cheers
