I'll be digging into this soon, but I wanted opinions and experience beforehand.

The handle simply stopped working. There is no resistince, and it will not open the door. The locks still function, and the interior handle does open the door. The interior handle may or may not have changed in feel.

At first, it took some working to get the door open. After a while, you had to pull rather hard, at it's full extension, for the door to open.

It almost felt like a clip or a cable had stretched or was about to break.

Now, it just does nothing.

I want to see if there is some common issue that people are aware of before I really mess about with it. I'd like to fix the problem if I can, and if there is a part somewhere that is prone to breakage, I'd be happy to hear about it.

If it's something that can only be sorted by replacing the entire assembly, I'd like to hear that, as well as whether or not anyone knows where I can get one quickly.

As a matter of course, I'll be calling Jagbits, Motorcars LTD, and Terry's Jag to spot for replacements, but I want to get as much information as I can beforehand.

I'll be crusing the classifieds, but if anyone here is breaking a '96 or compatible model, I'll pay quick for quick shipping.

One more question:

Are the 1995 handles fully compatible with the 1996 handles?

I know where I can get a used set of '95s to keep me going for a while.
