Electric Fans - What happens if the Fan Belt Breaks?

Some people like to ask reasonable questions about potential tech issues, others like to worry about the sky falling I guess.
I've had a fanbelt snap on me... And it ripped the cambelt to pieces at 3000 rpm... Handy when your engine is a noninterference engine (Volvo B230F). Called the ADAC (German version of the AA). Out they came with a tow truck... Said no, here is my cambelt. Here a new V-belt (Volvo drivers are always prepared). Please fit. 60 mins later I was driving as if nothing happend
no never actually owned a Ford Cobra 427 AC!
but did have one in my possesion for about 6 months, customer said give it a nice tune , and adjust the valves!
he was off to duty elsewhere!
well yuo do know i had to drive it a few times(many), and it was a blast!
providing you could keep from slipping and sliding around, could make big black donuts around the parking lots! LOL.
take people for rides , and they sometimes lost there breath.

My son has a scratch built T. Very much modified Ford 460 power. The ground shakes when fired up. Presently being "up graded". The front suspension is roughly similar to Sidney Allard and later Ford's rendition of a "split" axle.
Latest rendition is lower arms in CNC executed alloy. Lower arms somewhat akin to the split I beam Allard/ Ford version....
Oh, me, I thought those sweating days/nights were over...

In the grand scheme of things belt failures are rare and, IMO, becoming more so. I think the quality is likely better than decades ago, and the wide usage of robust serpentine and/or multi-rib belts, accounts for this.
There's always gonna be that 1-in-1000 oddball manufacturing defect or other weird exception but I think belt failure is 99% avoidable. Just inspect your belts a couple times a year. It is very easy to spot impending doom and replace the belt before it actually fails.
If you're stuck by the side of the road with a broken belt you probably have only yourself (or your mechanic) to blame.
