Default Electric Windows on 1988 V12 XJS problem

I have recently bought a 1988 XJS V12 HE which has been stored for several years with just 51000miles. Its a RHD and Im a retired Brit looking forward to "playing" with my new toy. The problem is with the nearside electric window. The drivers side is fine and I have cleaned the switches and tested for power to the wiring connections to the motor having removed the door trim. I have removed the mechanism and lubricated moving parts and upon reassembling ,the window will move up and down well within its limits, but as soon as it hits the closed position ,a rapid cliking noise is heard from the mechanism, then it ceases to work at all.
I would appreciate any suggestions to correct this problem. Thank you.
