Engine and Injector Looms (V12)
Hi Everyone,
I made a new loom for my 1992 XJS V12 (which includes both the injector and magneti marelli engine loom) a while ago. I know other years have the engine and injector loom separately.
I’m about to do the same for my Daimler Double Six.
I remade the 92 loom with high temperature silicon wiring and aircraft quality coaxial cable for the TDC sensor, along with the best shrink wrap, fabric wrap, braiding and connectors available. I only reused the round connector and ecu connector. The wrapped loom was a little thicker than original, but will / should easily outlast the car and all routing was stock.
I should point out that I studied electronics and have many years of experience wiring alarms systems, cars, …
I quite enjoyed this endeavour and I was wondering if they’d be in any interest in me making up some lots of these. I guess people with ‘92 engine looms might be keenest.
The cheapest quote I got (for 92) when I was looking at options was £2500 plus VAT. For cars with separate injector looms, these are normally around £500. I’ll need to think of price point, but it’s be significantly less than that. Considering this a small business opportunity.
Let me know what you’d need and what kind of price you’d be prepared to pay (if interested). I’ll see how many replies I get and will consider pricing.
I’d need one of each original loom initially and would discount the first of each (who sends to me), otherwise I’d need only the unique connectors chopped off and sent to me (or whole loom and I’d return what’s left with the new loom OR I could leave for you to splice if your car is running and label the ecu and round plug connector wires).
I’d expect about a max 4 week turnaround. If interest is sufficient, I’ll be able to stagger this to reduce wait time.
All the best,
Dan

A lot of other people also enjoy the work...so that cuts into your customer base a bit :-)
Still, I'm sure there's a market for you.
I picture of the finished product would be helpful. Everyone likes to see what they're buying !
Cheers

Good idea on the pics. I’ll take some pics of the XJS loom in place.
this reminds me of trying to buy a proper ratio gear set for my 1978 XJS dana final drive?
i called and check with some one in UK, quote was #1100. usd plus shipping!
i decided to go to a local 4-4 drive shop,, guy looked at the gears, went into back room came out with a set 3.73 ratio(perfect)!
cost out the door was $150. usd! i also made my own harnesses, forgot how much, altho not a lot!
to me absolute perfection is only a concept, reality is close the same!
