Im building a locost with a 2.9 aj6 with a plan to upgrade it when
built. I was just wondering if anyone with a V12 could
measure their engine at the widest point and lengthso I know whether a V12 (5.3HE and 6.0)would fit.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you do have an XJS and if thats the case the V12 will fit with no problems, but you will need the GM turbohydramatic 400 gearbox or similar thats made for the v12.
On teh other hand if your car is a 2,9 XJ40 then there isnt room enough. The XJ40 came late with the V12 engine but that particular model was very much modified in the enginebay and the frontsuspension, steering and more.

Sorry bout that, didnt understand that your car was a "seven lookalike kitcar"..... I do think we in Europe have at least 20 different producers of that type of car. But with what youre intending to build its a weapon not a car. 450 kg cars with a net hp of at least 290... hrmmm. Going out to the garage and trying to measure the engine... be back
