Default Fan relay

Does anyone have any experience re[airing the cabin fan relay that controls the Low, Med, Hi settings? 11 connection blades plus the power wire.
The one on the '86 car does not work on Hi and replacements are veeery pricey with only a short warranty.
Any ideas what I should be looking for?
Thanks.

Brad
The Great Palm is good on this relay. It is relatively easy to open nit up and see if anything has come disconnected.

I think that the fan not working on high speed may also be due to a failure in the resistor thingy (p 25) that also controls speed. See pages 21 onwards of the attached.

Have you done the clean-and-tighten routine on those connections? They're often corroded or loose.

Cheers

Update: opened up the relay unit by removing the four small set screws and ending back the retainer flaps. Inside are four 'resistors' each with copper wire connecting to a terminal. Three of them are connected to the main power terminal. The forth is connected to the bottom right corner terminal, I call #7 position. The resistors are wrapped in very thin red wire coil each with two wires coming off and attached to various spades. All eight wires are intact, no breaks.
At this point I see no option but to put it back together, clean the contacts as suggested , reconnect the wires with dielectric grease in the connectors. The issue is not serious enough to warrant further deconstruction of the very complex and involved climate control system.

Spoke too soon. One of the tiny red wires, #9 spade, was broken at connection point. fixing that hopefully gets me Hi speed fan operation again.
