Hi! Happy New year !

Well, my 1994 XJS XJ6 convertible popped this goodie up on the
status display last week.
Imagine my surprise when a search of this forum came up zip, zilch, nada,
404 for this problem code.

I was hoping to find a good part number for the solenoid in the microfiche
parts guide. All the ones that are being shown are in the wheel well.
Mine is under the intake manifold. I think that is the one.

Does anyone have a good picture/part number of the little beastie?

I think the line coming from the canister just goes into the inlet manifold. You should post a pic of the solenoid you suspect.

FF89 is the purge control valve, all that stuff is in the fender with the canister if I recall correctly. Why are you thinking the code is for something else in the engine bay? I've heard they can throw codes for the smaller check valve getting jammed up, some people just drill them out.

The vacuum hose does come from under the intake manifold and then goes
to a valve with a solenoid attached to it. The hose then continues to the charcoal
canister in the fender well.
The pictures I've pulled up from the 1993 microfiche shows 2 or 3 flavors of the
purge solenoid and the vapor canister. The types depend on a 6cyl or 12 cal.
All of which are located in the lefthand(drivers side) fender behind the headlight.

I was hoping to use the Jaguar on line parts catalogue to source the version I see
in my 1994 6-cylinder XJS which has the solenoid under the intake manifold.
The canister is still in the fender.

Wow! What a difference a 2nd cup of coffee makes !
I found the solenoid part.... item #12 - DBC4301 on the Jag Classic Parts page
for Carbon Canister Purge Control Valve for XJS below VIN 194774.

The picture does not show that the control valve sits right below the
intake manifold and the mass flow sensor intake.

Gonna reseat the power plug for the control valve first and then maybe order another
assembly if needed.

Ah okay, so looks to be the same valve just stuck in a different place. Try applying voltage and see if there is a difference, can you blow through it? Does it seem to open and close?
