Stuck Purge Valve?
1999 XK-8 48k mi. Have a Check Engine light that comes on shortly (50 miles) after refueling.
Took it to my local Jag Mechanic (good guy)and code comes up P0455 indicating "gross leak present" which theroot cause is usually a faulty orloose gas cap. Replaced the cap with new one from Jaguar, still have problem. Took the car in and my local mechanicperformed a gross leak check by inspecting the system and also using EVAP system to pressure test system. Everything tested OK.
Bottom line, I am being sent to the dealer because the only thing left would be apurge valve stuck closed.
Does anyone have a similar experience, suggestion or know how expensive the replacement of the valve will be at the dealer?
Thanks to all.

RE: Stuck Purge Valve?
Oh well, light back onafter 80 miles. Went back to the dealer and they had it all day, can not find a thing wrong with it. Every test is perfect but it still keeps showin code 044 for gross leak. The dealer is keeping the car overnight and waiting to hear back from the Jaguar head shed with some ideas. If anyone has any ideas they would sure be appreciated.
Very frustating. Starting to miss my Corvette!

RE: Stuck Purge Valve?
Gary,
Actually the dealertested the new cap and they say it tests OK. Also tried another cap. They are dumbfounded and so is Jaguar. I'm thinking it may be the ECM itself but it is an expensive experiment. They will not install one for test.
Thanks for responding

RE: Stuck Purge Valve?
when you smoke test the system ... if the purge valve is stuck open the smoke will come out the airfilter...
when you replace the close valve your sappose to check the actual vent and and pipe for corrosion.. if it is corroded then rust can fall back into the new valve and keep it from sealing..which will give you p0455 evap gross leak. again.. definitly not the ecm..
