FF 23 and Whining Fuel Pump - Coincidence?

FF 23 and Whining Fuel Pump - Coincidence?
I have a 1994 XJS 4.0 and yesterday the check engine light came on with code FF 23. I also noticed that the fuel pump whines intermittently. Is this a coincidence or is it likely the two are related? If they are why?

on my phone that code says DTC FF23 FUEL SUPPLY
This DTC uses the HO2S signal. The feedback integrator signal(s) have been on the rich or lean clamps. Changes to mixture have brought fueling back into control.
Fuel Filter or PUMP... I would clean/renew all Filters first. then clear the code, if resets look to the PUMP
(I would bet on the PUMP)
