Front License Plate Mounting?
Hello,
We've just moved with our 1994 XJS Convertible to Hawaii, and to complete the registration process, we need to install the front license plate. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on mounting a plate to this car without having to ruin the look of the front bumper?
Cheers,
Kristi

I Bought a generic license plate holder and used nylon ties to attach it to the front spoiler, under the bumper.
Looks great. I did have to affix the stickers to the lower corners of the plate instead of the top.

Here in California we also have to have front license plates. On my 96 XJS, it appears the dealer originally mounted front plate - used a plastic backing plate that is shaped to fit the bumper on the backside and they drilled holes through the plastic cover on the bumper into the metal and then inserted self threading metal screws to hold the plastic backing piece on. Then, a Jaguar license plate frame was fitted on top of the plate and also screwed directly into the bumper. Once you mount it is there for good as the holes are obviously visible without the plate covering them up.
You can get the plastic backing plate here:

Yeah, I didn't want to mount mine to the bumper. The holes are there, but I just don't think it belongs there.
I'm having my hood and bumper resprayed, so I don't have a picture to offer yet. I'll get it to you this weekend.
You can't see the nylon ties at all...
