Default Fuel injectors

Morning All,

Young John and I removed our fuel rail yesterday to clean and inspect the injectors. I wont have my manual until the end of this week.
So I have a question or two.
I saw a couple of really nice vids on youtube for cleaning injectors, has anyone cleaned their one injectors? Looks pretty straight forward.
How many actual o-rings do the injectors have each?
To purchase online I see packages of four large and four small.
Ours appear to only have one each of a tallish (1/4") by 5/16" id / 7/16" od.
I didn't look further down into the port at which there inserted so I could have missed the other ones.
TIA
Neil

I'm a little foggy on this but what you've described sounds correct and is the only seal used. Someone may well come along and correct me.

While you're at it pay particular attention to the plastic pintle caps at the tip of each injector. If any are broken they'll need replacing.

Some guys have better results than others with DIY injector cleaning. I've never tried it myself so I'm not much help.

If it doesn't work for you or for whatever reason you change your mind and want them professionally cleaned, I strongly recommend:

Jaguar Fuel Injector Service

Outstanding service and reasonable pricing.

Cheers

Thanks Doug,
We are going to clean them ourselves. Looks like probably one of the simplist things I'll have to do.
Oh,
And where would the drain plug be for the fuel tank?

Thanks
Neil

as far as i know there is no drain plug, the tank sits up and is inside the car. When i cleaned mine out i removed the sending unit and siphoned it all out. Be sure to take out the primary filter and the small tank under the battery and clean them out as well.

be sure the seals you were looking at online were for your system. There are two different fuel systems for the v12. The D-jetronic which is the older one marked by the round fuel rails. then the newer P type which has the square rails. Not sure about what orings it uses but the set you looked at could be for the D system.

Oh btw in case you didn't know there is a fuel cutoff in the door jam on the drivers side. its a rectangular box with the button on the top of it.

oh yeah and don't be a dumbass like me and disconnect a pressurized fuel line, its like someone throwing a gasoline water balloon into your face.

Well the fuel rail came off with a lot of looking and seeing what was looping wire wise. I found a really sweet video of a fella cleaning his injectors under pressure using a 5cm syringe and a 12 v power supply on youtube. Worked incredibly well. We received the O-Ring, dressed and cleaned the injectors installed the orings. Cleaned and vacuumed the central section of the block and started removing the sparkplugs. Sparkplugs look very good. Minor cleaning brought them back to near purchase quality. Painted the fuel rail a nice high gloss black. Cut all new injector lines. Almost ready to install.
Got out full manual today, " man what alot of ready there is" To bad it's not a paper manual as I do my best reading on the crapper.
enough for now. See you tomorrow.
Peace
Neil and John.

Default XJ8 VDP 1999 Fuel Injector Replacement Instructions?

I am having problems removing the fuel rail after taking off the two hold down bolts and each injector retaining clips.

We cut ours off then sliced the hoses length wise and pealed them off.
Putting it back on was the real treat. Put a little oil on a rag and wipe the connection pieces this helps.

Thank you, Sir

I just finished tonight at midnight popping off all 8 injectors and the Bank 1 rear engine screw holding that fuel rail took one hour to access. I am sending them down tomorrow for a complete overhaul and hope that the misfire is not an engine problem.

Thank you, again!!
